Veneers can be made from many different materials. The most well-known is the Porcelain Veneers, but there are many different types of these as well. Your dentist will help you with the most appropriate veneers for you.
Porcelain Veneers have been around for a long time and are very successful. They give the most flexibility with colour, shape and contour and are very stain resistant.
Commonly, porcelain veneers are whiter than bleached teeth. Often there is some preparation of the teeth to assist with their alignment as well as to assist with accurate placement. The veneers are designed and made then bonded onto the teeth. While the laboratory manufacture of these has taken four to six weeks in the past, technology is significantly reducing this time a week or two.
As technology advances, more whitening techniques become available to dentists, learn more about the technology we use at our clinic.
Composite veneers are most cost-effective than porcelain veneers, however are more susceptible to staining and often do not last as long as porcelain veneers. Composite veneers are sometimes preferred over porcelain veneers in preparation for future veneers or crowns as they allow the dentist and patient to asses tooth shape preference.
